Meet Your Instructor

Hi, I’m Jennifer Ballard, and I’ve had a passion for horses and barrel racing for as long as I can remember.

I see you. You’ve spent years supporting your family, raising kids, and putting everyone else first. But now? It’s your turn. You’ve always dreamed of running barrels, but maybe you’ve told yourself it’s too late to start, you’re not sure where to begin, or—let’s be honest—you’re a little scared.

I’ve worked with so many women just like you. Women who felt nervous, unsure, and worried about getting hurt or embarrassing themselves. Women who weren’t sure if they had what it takes. And I know, without a doubt, you do.

I’ve spent the last 20 years turning barrel racing dreams into reality, especially for middle aged women who are ready to finally do something for themselves. I’ve ridden thousands of horses, trained and competed across the West, and won plenty of buckles—but my biggest passion is helping women just like you step into the arena with confidence. I’ve coached hundreds of students, taking them from never racing, to their very first ride and all the way to winning checks, saddles, and buckles.

And here’s the most important thing I’ve learned… 👉 You don’t have to be fearless, you don’t need a fancy horse, and you don’t have to figure this out alone.

I know it can feel overwhelming. You’re anxious about getting started. You’re afraid of failing, looking silly, or not being good enough. But what if I told you that fear is exactly why you should start? Because on the other side of that fear is confidence, joy, and the thrill of finally doing something just for you.

That’s exactly why I created Barrel Racing Basics: Foundation to Finish — a step-by-step program designed to take you from feeling anxious and unsure to confidently running your first race

in just 30 days.

But I know—right now, you’re not thinking about me or my experience. You’re wondering,

can this really work for ME?

The answer is YES. I’ve helped countless women—women who had never raced before, who were scared to even lope a circle, who weren’t sure if they were "too old" to start—become confident, competitive riders.

If you’ve ever thought, I wish I could do that, I’m here to tell you—you CAN. And I’d love to show you how.

Frequently Asked Questions

What skill level is this program for?

This program is designed for homeschool students ages 12 and up who are new to barrel racing or just starting out. It’s perfect for teens who love horses but don’t know where to begin, need a clear plan to follow, and want to build confidence in the arena while earning homeschool PE credit.

How long do I have access to the program & when does it start?

Your family will have lifetime access to the course. That means your student can learn at their own pace, revisit lessons anytime, and use the material for credit across an entire semester—or even beyond. The program starts the moment you enroll, and new videos and resources will continue to be added regularly. It is designed to be completed in one semester or one year.

Can't my student learn this on Youtube?

YouTube has plenty of free videos, but it doesn’t provide a structured, step-by-step course designed for homeschool credit. With random videos, you can’t be sure the advice is correct or safe. This program eliminates the guesswork, provides expert guidance, and gives your teen a proven path that counts toward PE credit.

Does my student need to have a barrel horse before starting?

No. While your teen doesn’t need a top-level barrel horse, they do need a horse - or regular access to one - to practice the skills and drills in this program. The focus is on confidence and fundamentals, not competition bloodlines.

What kind of equipment will we need?

A properly fitted saddle, bridle, and bit suitable for barrel racing are important. We’ll also cover recommended tack, safety gear, and how to set up a simple practice space so your teen can get started without unnecessary expenses.

My teen isn't very athletic - can I still do this?

Absolutely! This program is built for beginners, not athletes. We include simple fitness tips and riding exercises to help your teen build strength, balance, and confidence in the saddle - step by step.

What if we don't have access to an arena?

No problem! Your teen can train without a formal arena. We’ll show you how to set up a practice pattern in a pasture, field, or open space and how to make the most of different environments.

How will this program help my teen feel confident at my first race?

This course goes beyond drills—it’s about confidence and preparation. We cover everything from mental strategies and practice routines to what to expect on race day. Plus, your teen will be part of a supportive student community where they can share progress, celebrate wins, and ask questions anytime.

How does my teen earn homeschool PE credit with this course?

At the end of each module, your student will receive a Video of Completion showing they’ve finished that section of the course. When they complete the full program, they’ll receive a Certificate of Completion that outlines all lessons, assignments, and hours completed. This documentation can be applied toward homeschool PE credit in most programs. Since each state has its own requirements, we recommend checking your state’s guidelines—but we’ll provide everything you need to support credit.

Is there a guarantee?

Absolutely! Barrel Racing Basics - Foundation to Finish has a 7-Day Satisfaction Guarantee. If you are not completely SATISFIED and EXCITED by the Program, then contact us within 7 Days for a full refund, no questions asked!
